G42 Healthcare是总部位于阿布扎比的技术公司Group 42的子公司，目前与一家专门从事气味读取技术的以色列公司NanoScent签署了一项协议，以共同开发此类检测技术。
气味检查设备能从检测者呼出的空气中检测出（是否有）挥发性有机化合物或VOC组合，如果出现这些气体，说明检测者感染了新冠。
患者将鼻腔内的空气吹入一个装有吸管的小袋中，然后，设备将对样品进行分析，并在30至60秒内提供结果。
据阿联酋通讯社Wam报道，该检测办法有很大的潜力在全球范围内改变新冠检测业。该测试不需要复杂的基础架构，并且具有不错的成本效益。
在通过视频会议举行的协议签署过程中，G42 Healthcare首席执行官Ashish Koshy表示，在没有疫苗的情况下，进行大规模测试是阻碍疫情进一步传播的最有效方法。
G42 Healthcare还参与了由一家中国制药公司在阿联酋合作的灭活Covid-19疫苗的III期临床试验。
